Sri Sri To Surf Bhagdad

File under: The Siddhi of PR

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is about to fail as a peacemaker again, this time in that ocean of disaster brought to you by a bunch of really sorry Americans and the nincompoop they elected president:
"He is visiting the conflict-ravaged country as an ambassador of peace on the invitation of Iraqi prime minister. He will hold discussions on restoring peace in Iraq with the prime minister," [said] Sangeeta G Anand, media coordinator of the Art of Living.
Leave it to the primping preenster to surf on the waves of unrest all over the world, like a bearded Miki Dora wearing a white dress. Too bad the only "good" to ever come of it is more PR sheen on Sri Sri.

I for one am glad His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is willing to go over to the war torn Iraq and work for peace. Only somebody of his caliber is willing to risk his life to bring peace. God bless Sri Sri.

Sri Sri never fails. He always gets his way. You wait and see. Peace is a coming!

Sri Sri never fails.

Actually, he's yet to succeed... at peacemaking that is.

However, he's been wildly successful at pulling the wool over everyone's eyes regarding his true motivation, which is simply to be a household name in places outside of India.

Be honest Jody, would you go over to IRaq and risk your life for peace, even if it is just to make your name known all over. I think not. Very few would, I know I wouldn't go over there, no matter how much I was seeking fame. I like the comfort and peace of the USA. So maybe Sri Sri's motivations are purer than you think. Maybe, just maybe, he really is trying to create peace in the Middle East. It's just a thought.

Because I'm not as desperate to be famous.

Plenty of personages have been to Iraq and survived. While it's a hell-hole that we as a nation are responsible for, it's not a death sentence to visit there.

Actually, this can be a lesson in ill-lightenment: Intentions matter. Sri Sri's motive is self-aggrandizement. So his intention is to go to iraq to spread peace so that he can get famous.

Now, the ulterior motive might be seen in the actions of many men. Bill Clinton and Jesse Jackson gained infamy for skirt-chasing but both are prominent figures. Even Martin Luther King, Jr. was an adulterer. There's a certain alpha-male phenomenon. But unlike Sri Sri, these guys weren't operating on the "pursue liberal policies to get laid" prinincible. Their dalliances were secondary, not primary, to their motives. We might even go to argue that they (and for that matter, their counterparts on the right), because they are men with values--values, granted, that may in their own way justify selfishness in other areas of life that seem less important, like their personal lives--remain partly immune to the slanders of fame.

But Sri Sri? Nope.

Jody,

You need to find out how Sri Sri got invited by the Iraqi Prime minister. If you get to the bottom of it, you may discover that the invitation was arranged by himself.. may be..

Hey Dude,

You can make a lot of comments sitting at your home. You told that you don't want to become famous, so you are not going to Iraq. If you don't want fame, what is the very purpose of having this Blog?
There are certain things everybody can do. What you can do is sitting like a frog and making noise like this. What Sri Sri can do is live a life of purpose, live for others.
ghe ghe.

What a joke. The day Me Me Ravi Shankar lives for another person will be, well, I can't even think of an example, it is so unlikely.

He is the most self-serving, paranoid, scared little man I've ever met. Once, he had the entire "inner circle" (of course never called that...) at the ashram conduct a search for an idol that was accidently discarded by the pundits when they threw the offerings into the grasses somewhere outside the puja hall. He had all these people running around, whispering to several people about how "somebody wants my power, and they have stolen the Shiva Lingam to try to get Siddhis! We must find it." So for nearly an entire day, he had a bunch of idiots scouring the landscape like a forensics team, looking for this small sphatika lingam. How weird is that dude? How much service is he doing for humanity? He is basically out of his mind, and controls (sometimes) his mental illness at times. That's about it. He is sometimes clever and sharp, as are many mentally people. He tells part truths to make his lies seem more real (another ploy of crazy folks).

If you are drinking the Kool Aid there, you should try to quit.

If I remember you correctly, Jody, were'nt you thrown out of Art Of Living when they did not make you a teacher? I have seen your style of writing in local courses.

If I remember you correctly, Jody,

You obviously don't know a damn thing about me. And read the blog. There are plenty of gurus I skewer besides Sri Sri.

I have never had any dealings with AoL, whatsoever! I have never taught any kind of spirituality or yoga, nor have I wanted to, outside of expressing my opinions about spirituality, whose worth is entirely in the ears of its hearers.

To make clear the occluding effects of the myths about self-realization these gurus cultivate to make themselves more mythic. It's faking being God to keep the money flowing, and it fills the devotees heads with utter nonsense that prevents self-realization.

What you can do is sitting like a frog and making noise like this.

That's very astute. I'm always going to be just a little frog making noise, God willing.

What Sri Sri can do is live a life of purpose, live for others.

Sri Sri's true purpose is to increase his name and fame. The "live for others" part is merely the costume he wears to hide it.

Exactly what is meant by this? If Sri Sri gets laid, it must be in the 25th hour of the day! The guy's diary is so full. Agreed that AoL is full of rotters but the man isn't one. Anyway, one does not feel like going to the Ashram any longer because the good feeling one got there earlier, and I have been going for seven years, is totally gone. Or I am moving on in life.
