Me Me's Future Powerbase

File under: Backroom Gurudom and The Siddhi of PR

Me Me Sri Sri Ravi Shankar seems like he expects to rule the world. But despite his overwhelming lust for name and fame, he's still got enough sense to know he can't do it by himself. Thus, he's instituted another donation trap charitable program which seeks to enjoin India's youth to become a problem-solving resource for Me Me's political ambitions the country and world at large:
The focus of [World Alliance for Youth Empowerment] is to identify issues and solutions and present a formal report to the government, with expert advice back-up, suggesting a course of action. Many such conferences are to be held in Bangalore over the next few weeks to collect enough data concerning issues and solutions. The idea is to empower youth to use their talents to offer workable ideas.

As part of their efforts to refine the education system, which was identified as the root cause of all issues, WAYE director Khurshed Batliwala said the Art of Living Foundation universities in Orissa and Gujarat will have practical, professional courses in politics and governance.
Naturally, these youth will be indoctrinated instructed in the various Art of Living meditation courses. Overtime, Me Me hopes to garner an army of little Me Me men and women, all perfected as AoL-bots emissaries of peace and sent out to spread the virus message of stress-free living that operates as a cover for Me Me's drive to have the whole world groveling at his feet celebrating his wisdom.

Sriram,

You are soooo right! Just like Adolph Hitler had millions of little "furhers", so does Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Sheep will follow any leader. SSRS proves that point very well. Followers always want to be like their fearless leader. Nothing different in AOL. Just another cult with lots and lots of money and followers with a charasmatic leader who thinks he's God. So did Hitler. Thank God that SSRS has no weaponry at his disposal.

By your definition, christianity too is a cult, becuase Jesus is the only way. If you are anti-cult, why do you practice christianity (I know you do!) Why dont you post popephiliacs as well? You fear being ostracized in your own country, right! and hey, face up to it - what about your pledge?!

Yeah, christianity is a cult, except for more moderate types who don't buy into the fundamental aspects. Um, ostracized in my country? Uh, I practice christianity? Interesting ideas. But you are wrong on both counts. :-)) What pledge are you talking about? Or are you talking to Jody (his pledge not write any more about SSRS?)

Anyhow, whatever christianity or any other religion is, imo Art of Living is a cult, and it's leader is creepy, phony and cruel. But, hey, dude, whatever turns you on! If he tells you to jump and you say "how high?", then go for it! Just don't cry when you find out the truth about him and his fake bunch.

Anonymous,
cristianity is a cult whose leader is the pope, puting up a story about Jesus, making him "the only Son of God", making of him a martyr, a son of a virgin and so many other miracle fables...
But Jesus, if he was to revive nowadays,... would start a guruphilliac 2 blog

You must see that Sri Sri is a very clever man in that he plays "the system" very well in his use of advertisement and image, but surely you see that the result of his actions benefit millions of disadvantaged people around the world, yes he plays the God man and gets fame but that means nothing compared to his wider impact on the world.

You have no right to criticise until you have done the AOL course, there is no brain washing going on, no pressure to conform, you can question anything they say, it really does not go anywhere near cult status.

Sri Sri has realised that he has to use modern methods to achieve his goals of helping people and he does it very well and is a huge force of good in a world lacking real leaders.

I have the "right" to say whatever I want on my blog. Besides, AoL techniques are simple and no more effective than any other technique. Sri Sri is selling sand at the beach.

There are folks leaving comments here that paint a different picture. Especially those who have been in his inner circle.

it really does not go anywhere near cult status.

Says you. Others say different.

This SSRS asshole is just a piece of floating wood for the over-funded people to hang on ... for people who are trapped in the ocean of lust. Lust for sex, money, power. Chasing such lust takes nobody to any distinct destination defined by humanity. And thus comes desperation and depression. Drug addiction and divorces and ifidelity are a surplus. And that is exactly how SSRS makes people pay for their pain.
